Odd, because hibernate on my TP770ED never
shuts the OS down. It commits the entire contents
of the memory to disk, and retrieves those contents
when I tell the machine to go on again.
Suspend puts the machine in super sleep mode, and the
memory is just kept "hot" so to speak, until you revive
the machine.
