Hello everyone,
I've been trying to use the recovery CD for the 240 with an Addonics Pocket
CD-RW (PCMCIA version). I spoke to tech support at Addonics, and they sent
me drivers to create a DOS bootdisk that didn't work.
Does anybody on the list have the correct drivers to create a DOS bootdisk
(recovery floppy disk) for the 240 using a Pocket CD-RW? If so, I'd
appreciate it if you could send me them via email. The recovery floppy disk
that comes with the 240 won't work because the Addonics product is not one
of the products supported by IBM.
As to why I'm trying to use the recovery CD (after owning the 240 for only a
week), my system no longer recognizes the internal Lucent Winmodem (the
Winmodem will appear under the Modem icon in Control Panel, but clicking
"more info..." under the diagnostics tab results in "cannot detect modem.")
I've spoken to IBM tech support and ran through a variety of steps
(including booting up in safe mode, removing all recognized modems and
ports, and then rebooting in normal mode with the system not recognizing the
internal Winmodem) to no avail. Does this sound familiar to anyone and does
anybody have an idea of what I can do besides resorting to a clean install?
Thank you.
Eugene
