Office Pro 97/MS Word and ThinkPads 755CD

I have found that installing Word 97 on a 755CD (Win95 OSR2) causes
suspend/hibernate to fail (locks up), and that the system will lock up
when the Battery "beeps" at around 50%
Uninstalling Word solves the problems
Anyuone got a patch or cure for this?
