Removing win95 options cab after upgrade

I've upgraded my ThinkPad 600E to Win98SE. I copied all the cabs off
of the Win98SE CD onto a "win98" directory on my c drive and then
installed from the drive, rather than the CD.

So my question is: Can I delete the the ORIGINAL directory of
c:\windows\options\cabs from the hard drive (since I assume anytime that
the Windows now needs a file for driver installation, etc,) it will look in
c:\win98??
