Perhaps I didn't make my suggestion clear. You do need an adapter but
not the "Thinkpad Adapter" from Andrea, which only works with the older
Thinkpads with the metal shell on the microphone jack. You need the
Soundblaster adapter, which in my case, came free with the ANC-600
and was labeled "Converter Plug".
