This works on Win98, but not on Win2k. You need to set infrared on the Palm,
then set HotSync to use the COM port that has the infrared adapter. Then,
hit HotSync on the Palm and you should be golden. If it doesn't work, drop
me a mail. I've had it working on my 600E for months.

Subject: Using Infrared to Sync ThinkPad and PalmV
Hello,
Has anyone here successfully used infrared to sync their ThinkPad with a
Palm
device? I several colleagues with 600E's and Palm Vx's that want to be able
to synchronize via infrared. One of them tried getting things set up, but
couldn't make it work. After enabling the TP infrared port, the Palm still
couldn't communicate.
This is also important to me because I am considering getting a Palm Vx or a
Compaq Aero 1530 (WinCE device). As a consultant, it would be most
convenient
to leave the Palm's cradle at home with the home PC and still be able to
sync
with my 770 laptop at work via infrared(less stuff to drag along and set
up).
As a slightly off-topic question, does anyone know where to get the best
deal
on a Palm (V or Vx) or the Compaq Aero 1530? Also, I'd appreciate opinions
as
to why it would be better to go with the more expensive Palm over the WinCE
device. They seem to be on par as far as features go, but I have absolutely
no experience with them.
Thanks in advance!
