Hi, I'm looking to spend between $500 and $1000 for an older Thinkpad
which I will use primarily for word processing when I am not using my
main desktop machine. I have found a refurbished i1412 that is just out
of my price range ($1050) but looking at the specs it seems really
good. Is this a good model in terms of everyday useability, viewing the
screen, typing on it, etc? I am also considering the 760 and 770
series, but I am interested in running Linux and have read that the
MWave sound card/modem is a pain to use in anything but Windows. (I
don't really care about the modem, but sound is a definite plus.) Speed
isn't really an issue, since I basically need to be able to use
Microsoft Word or the equivalent. Does anyone have any suggestions
about which models are good and which ones to avoid? I'd appreciate any
input on the subject.
Thanks,
Andy Goldstein
