Yes, IDE is an extension of ISA.
PCMCIA is a somewhat strange extension of IDE, the PC card standard is so
close to IDE that there are connect-a-harddrive things that allow a IDE
drive to be used on PC card busses, and yes it is true there are things like
this for the printer port.
