At some point you have to decide how to break up the vast flow of information
on the net. Having a mailing list for *all* laptops would be this never ending
maelstrom of data. That wouldn't be practical.
My philosophy is to make mailing lists as broad as possible. ThinkPads can
be covered in one mailing list--all laptops couldn't.
