Last night I went to the ShopIBM web site and placed an order for a ThinkPad
a20P - 26296TU and the site happily took my order for the computer, some
memory and the fancy new camera.
On the face of it this is a fabulous upgrade from my ThinkPad 600 PII/233
that I have loved for the past two years. Huge screen, 3 times bigger
drive, more memory, DVD, Win2k and so on. My technolust is in full
flood!!!!
This morning I got a call from a human asking why my order was blank.
Bottom line, the orders are not making it from the web site and when you ask
the human to help, they act really confused and don't even know what an A
series ThinkPad is. They have no "codes" for them and they cannot place
orders for you. Great assurances about staying on top of it are being made
but I am fairly skeptical at this point.
The ShopIBM site now shows "CALL" instead of "In Stock" for the 26296TU.
If you think you have placed an order, you may be sadly mistaken.
