Whe LILO writes to the MBR, it saves a copy in a file like
/boot/boot.0300. This can be reinstalled with something like "dd
if=/boot/boot.0300 of=/dev/hda bs=512 count=1". Be careful though,
you're playing with raw disk blocks.
I recently did this to restore Win98's MBR when I had been playing
around with Linux and it worked fine.
