Some things to think about:
If you leave the battery installed, you have the following benefits:
1) A built-in UPS for those unexpected power outages
2) The ability to use the machine on battery if desired (but previously
unexpected and unplanned for)
3) Improved health (the extra exercise is good for your muscles and heart)
