Not to 'blow your wad' but I decided to look at the following:

http://www1.ibmlink.ibm.com/cgi-bin/master?request=salesmanual&parms=SMS&xh=Jg6LNNfhu8IE6H1USenGnN9332&xhi=salesmanual%5E&product=9547-u4t&search=&title=T&type=D#TOC011

Which was a lookup on the U4T model and here are the results:

No Charge Specify Codes

IBM U.S. M&S and Canada English Machines
                                                 Preload 1
                                                (Windows 95)

  12.1 TFT SVGA, L2 Cache) 82H5494 9547 U4G
ThinkPad 760EL

Description - No Preinstalled Software Number Type Model

NOTE: These blank HDD (no preinstalled software) systems
are available. Orders must be for pallet quantities
(24 systems) only. The pallet will not include any preinstalled
software, software manuals, software licenses, or the software envelope.

Looks like either IBM does not know what it is talking about, or there
are two 760EL models with L2 cache. In any case, I'm kinda tired of the
"my horse is better than your horse" stories going on here. Let it rest
that at least ONE 760EL model shipped with L2 cache. BTW, since that
model was withdrawn a few years ago, why are we arguing about this?
