The conclusions from my not able to hibernate or standby with my A20p
running Windows 2000:
1. Service pack 1 for W2K was not the problem. All's well with SP1.
2. McAfee Antivirus was not the problem, certainly not running version 5.1
which is certified for W2K.
3. The problem was Pretty Good Privacy, an earlier version that came with
McAfee Antivirus Deluxe. Once it was removed, standby and hibernate were
working again.
I have not tried the newest version of Pretty Good Privacy from the McAfee
website. It says that it will work with W2K. It's not my top priority to
try it. Someday I will.
