Hi -
I'm running Win95 OSR2 on a Thinkpad 770ED.
I have a persistent problem when connected to the internet via Dial Up Networking. At some point during my session (maybe after a couple of hours, maybe within the first 2 minutes), when an application makes an attempt to connect to something (maybe for the first time, maybe for the 90th time), I'll get a blue screen, with the following error:
"An exception 0E has occurred at 0028: C0027092 in VxD IFSMGR(01)+000038FE. This was called from 0028:c10435c0 in VxD PPPMAC(01)+00004610. It may be possible to continue working."
From that point on, no application can access the modem until I reboot the machine. Sometimes the application that made the attempt immediately closes.
PPPMAC.VXD: Version 4.00.953, 8/24/96
IFSMGR.VXD: Version 4.00.1111 8/24/96
Does anyone know where to start tracking down the source of this problem? Would I benefit from updating these drivers from somewhere?
I'm not sure if it's related, but I've been having a problem on startup lately: I get "Starting Windows 95", the audio driver loads, "Hibernation file already present," and then, within a few seconds, the screen goes completely blank and the computer restarts. I have to try a few times until this doesn't happen, and the OS loads completely without a sudden restart.
Any thoughts on this one?
Thanks infinitely!
- Ken
