if my memory is accurate, all that is needed is to remove all the keytops and
then the rubber sheet which comprises the "srping" cones..
(all in one sheet per kbd half)..
then the contact membrane will be revealed..
i would strongly advise against cleaning with anything stronger than contact
cleaning spray..
but, i suppose, at this point, there is little to lose..
the problem could lie with the cable but this is less likely than the keyboard
itself..
