Wait a minute !
The fact that the unit works with an external keyboard does NOT prove that the keyboard controller is fine.
This is a laptop ...not a desktop .
It has 2 ( sort off ) keyboard controller(s).
Part one translates the row and columm stuff , part two is what we normally see on standard motherboards .
It takes standard keyboard signals ,plays with them , and and sends them to the chipset.
I'm sure that on most laptops this chip is one chip and resides on the motherboard.
