Hello,
I am starting to take a serious look at replacing my 365ED. Looking at
available stuff is confusing.
The problem is for a few hundred more I can get something better (600E->600X
-> A20) and pretty
soon by adding a few more features I am up in the 3400 price range!!! My
desktop is a 500 MHz
P3 and I end up looking at a 700 MHz P3 A20P laptop!!!! My two main
desktops are 333 P2
and 500 P3. They current desktops works good. The 365ED still works good
but is lacking
DVD, USB, etc.
The 400 MHz 600E seems like a good unit. How about the 600X? Are they any
good? It seems
that I can get a A20 for slightly more money. I want a DVD but I am going
to use it more as
a super CD rather than playing movies. I also want to be able to encode
real audio at remote
locations. The real audio page seems to indicate I need something in the
300 - 400 MHz class.
I also want something that is P2 or P3 to get rid of the 64M cache limit on
main memory.
I want to run Linux, Windows, and OS/2. I know OS/2 is not supported on the
A20
but it seems like most drivers are there (except for the modem). There are
also some Linux
issues with some machines.
It seems the T20 is more expensive and it seems to be the leaner and meaner
one. The A20
seems to have more features, bigger and heavier. Size and Weight is not a
concerned so it
seems the A20 would be the one to get.
