Mouse/TrackPoint Issue on 600X w/ Win2K

I've got a 600X running Win2K. I us a Microsoft Wheel mouse with it. Problem
is, when I boot up with the mouse attached, then the Trackpoint doesn't work,
even when I unplug the mouse. If I go into Trackpoint properties and tell it
to stay enabled, then reboot, then it does work, but the MS mouse loses
'wheel' capabilities.

Anyone know how to have the MS mouse work with its wheel features while
plugged in and then have the Trackpoint work when the mouse is unplugged? I
don't care at all if the Trackpoint third button scrolling stuff works
anytime.
