I can't help there, but i can say that on Warpstock Europe, IBM presented
a ThinkPad which could connect to any IR-supported mobile phone and
do anything with it! (upload songs, dial, modify phone lists etc)

Also, on our OS/2 UK users group someone said that StarOffice 5.1a for OS/2
has support to connect to a Palm.

So if you get IR working, you'll be able to use it with SO, but i can't help on
how to get IR working since i've never tryed it.
