Hello,

Well it makes up for all the times I wasted money 8->. Actually
I bought my 365ED from the broken bin at a local computer store
years ago when it was current. It turned out the LCD was bad ($350).
I did not realize the cost of getting a floppy, battery, and power
supply. By the time I was all set I did not save very much money.

I finally could access the Power On Password defeat web pages and
found out after shorting the pads you turn the unit on. I did not
try that as on some motherboards this can cause damage. Anyway
removing the cmos battery worked as well.

Some little hiccups with the unit but I still need to complete
setting it up. I loaded Street Atlas 7 on it and find it works
great when navigating in the car with GPS. The 800x600 TFT is
a real improvement and it looks like the updating, etc.. is faster.
What I find interesting is it seems the DSTN screen on the ED is only
slightly worse than the TFT screen on a NCR 3180 (NEC Versa E).
I have not done side by side comparison but it seems the 365XD screen
is a big improvement over the 365ED screen.

I still may go for the new laptop but my thinking is going more
to getting a 600E. I need to do some more tests but it seems
the 800x display is good. 1024x with the same pixels per inch
(scaled up display) would look good as well. I am going to see
if the P120 is fast enough for the stuff I am planning on doing.
If so then a 366 or 400 MHz 600E with a 800x or 1024x TFT display
would be super fast.

You are beyond me, but good luck.......I'd have jumped at the 600 for
>$900....or, as I did, jump for a 600E 366 w/DVD AND 3 YEAR WARRANY (great
for
busy non technical types, like me) for >$1700 and been on with my life and
hamming...or computing. Sometimes more is less.
