I searched MS's knowledge base, and didn't find the exact answer, but
I'm
sure many of us would like to know, so be sure to post it once you find
it.

In the mean time, it did mention that if you have a laptop that has
problems
you can disable APM support, so try this to see if that has been done:

Start->Settings->Control Panel, System, Device Manager, System Devices,
Advanced Power Management support.

Mine (600X running Win98SE) is set as follows:
Disable in this hardware profile: Unchecked
Remove from this hardware profile: Unchecked
Force APM 1.0 mode: Unchecked
Disable power status polling: Unchecked

If those seem OK, try removing the device and let Win98 find it again.

Keep us posted!
Chris
