My 1451i and 1480i are TFT displays.

If your screen flickers on battery power but not AC, I would suspect a
power inverter
of some sort. I'm afraid my problem is farther into the display itself,
which is bad
since that means I'm more likely looking at replacing the power supply or
the back
light itself. Ah well.
