It's a great way for them to re-use the technology they made for the CrossPad

I would hope that you can use some sort of stylus on the notebook's screen,
in portrait mode [tall and skinny, not short and wide]. Pointing with your
fingernail or a pen is much easier than rolling a mouse around or pushing a
trackpoint.

I have to agree with that. But once you get to where you want to Read or
Write, you need a bigger display/surface.
