Seeing as this is OT anyway and somewhat about Symantec, are others on the
list aware what has happened with the Internet Faxing feature in Symantec's
WinFax Pro? This was provided by a Symantec partner, Concord Technologies.
It was a great feature that allowed the sending and receipt of faxes via the
Internet from within the WinFax interface. That meant no modem and no
dedicated fax line. This works really well when you have a DSL or T-1 line
or travel a lot. Trouble is, Concord has gone out of business. Last year
they were bought by an up and coming Seattle-based ISP company, Bazillion.
The week before last Bazillion and Concord shut down. Needless to say, this
has a lot of WinFax users pissed off at Symantec for not being on top of
this situation and for not even acknowledging it until several days after it
had happened. WinFax is an incredible application that has weathered the
years and remained viable, but this does not bode well for the future of the
program.
