You could just copy the 95 install files/folders to the hard drive and
install from the hard drive. this would be preferred even if you were'nt
having the PCMCIA problems (that is if you have enough hard drive space)

just a thought

Subject: W95 install help

I'm confused.

I am forced to do a fresh install of 95 on a friend's 760E. The CD player
is a pcmcia device. I have the dos boot disk and the CD is initialized
okay. When the install gets to where it is supposed to be looking at the
hardware installed, it goes away and never comes back. The screen goes
black and the HD / CD stop activity.

I am guessing that it is losing the CD player when it checks the hardware,
but that is just a guess. If I am right, anyone know of a way around it?

I go to www.ibm.com/thinkpad, choose support, select 760, and OS
installation looking for a hint and W95 is not listed as an OS. I get NT,
98, OS/2 but no 95. I am not finding it, but I know its there, so I guess
I am going in the wrong door, as it were.

Can someone point out the W95 installation instruction page for me. I
doubt what I need is there, but its bad enough to have the install blow
up, but when I cannot even find the page on the ibm site, it just makes it
worse :-)

Thanks for any help.

John
