I just want to thank everyone for the ideas and the things to try to fix my
install.
Thought it might be interesting to tell ya what the problem turned out to be.
Seems that I stupidly thought that a 'portable' installation was for a laptop,
but I was wrong and that was the problem. I eventually tried the custom,
typical, and the other one, that is minimal (I forget the name) and they all
loaded, even from the CD player, with no problems, but I could not make the
'portable' configuration work. It would always just black the screen and hang
everything. Quite stupid, if you ask me, but certainly a reminder of why I don't
use that software in the first place :)
