I have a problem with the internal speaker of my TP570: it seems to go on
and off without any apparent reason. It's not a driver problem (I have
W98, W2K and OS/2 installed, and when the speaker accepts to work, it does
generate sounds in all of them), it's not a sound card problem (sound
works OK with external speakers). When the speaker is off (which is most
of the time), no sound is produced at all, not even the power on beep. And
yes, I have tried Fn+PgUp.
Is it a known weakness of the TP570 or a defect on my particular unit
(bought used on eBay, but in fine condition in every other respect)?
Not sure if it's related, but I haven't been able to install the On Screen
Display utility (in W98/2K) on this particular machine. When I run
setup.exe for the On Screen utility, I only see the InstallShield wizard
screen for a few seconds, then it disappears. I do have the latest version
(1.17a) of the ThinkPad utilities installed, and the latest BIOS too.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Dominique
