My infrared port works just great for talking to my cellphone or for syncing
with my Palm Vx. However, when I try to start irxfer or fire up irxfer on my
730TE/W95, it immediately pops up with a message saying "Communication could
not be initialized. Make sure Infrared is enabled on your machine through the
Infrared control panel applet." Weirder still is the fact that the window for
irxfer itself is half-way off of the top of the screen.
Two possible things that happened:
The W98 upgrade didn't work well for the IR stuff.
The networking was hosed -- was on tech support with MSFT for
hours until the gal finally found the app which explains how
to remove then reinstall networking.
I might have installed the w95 irxfer on top of what was there.
Possibility. Hey, I'm a Unix guy. Happens.
Suggestions, help, confirmation that it just doesn't work, confirmation that
it does work?
