Not sure what you meant, but the IR transfer rate is supposed to be 4
million bits per second (Mbps) and not Megabytes per second (MB/s).

Then, of course, there is the OS overhead for the connection, which might
well be 100 %. This gives pretty close to 12 MB/s.
