Hello John,

Alright, please take this with a grain of salt, since I own the German
701c which comes without a modem, but on my machine com1 is the
infra-red port, while the one on the "dongle" is com2. Also, I used
to have an irq-conflict with one of the printer-ports, but only under
Linux, not Windows (and this is easily changed once you know what is
going on).

I still use it for everyday work, and love it. True, better
resolution, a faster cpu, more memory, a better keyboard and longer
battery-life wouldn't be bad to have... :-)
Press Fn-F1 for Setup, then check how many com-ports are enabled and
whether they are on the right address. Same for printers and sound
--- any irq-conflicts? Maybe it is possible to disable the modem in
setup?
Hope this helps some
Sven
