the point was: The connectors with two, four, or six wires used (whether
they be called RJ11, RJ12, RJ14, or RJ25) all have the same physical size.
On some, four or all six gold contacts are present even if only two wires
are used (like on my IBM 33,6 PCMCIA card modem). This should not lead one
to believe that the connector will not fit the wall outlet.

The other connectors you mention (like the RJ45) have a different physical
size. Maybe Ronald could tell us what hardware he has so that we can
clarify that point.
