You need to install the DOS ThinkPad utilities and diable it from there. The 75X series Utilities are not fully functional in W95.
It may still use the resources, as W95 is a plug and play system.

Ibm's support site on the web has provided me with everything i needed to get my used thinkpad up and running.
however, i am still having a problem with disabling mwave modem (not mwave sound) in order to install a 56k pcmcia modem. i tried suggestions but they did not work. operating system is win 95 osr2. 755CX. is this possible?
