Im afraid Bill you have opened a can of worms here :-)
If you remember when I joined the list a few weeks ago, it was
impossible to determine the serial number of my thinkpad 770x because
there was none and therefore impossible to now the exact model of the
770x 9549 series.
Well, now get ready for another x-file like riddle.
I got the EVA card in an original IBM box, supposedly never used.
I bought it under the assumption it was the latter model designed as
well for thinkpad 770 x and z. Well in the box says Shark DVD card and
gives the number 11J8957 which I think was for the older card. However
the very card has one label which says 12J0411 which is the number of
the newer card. summarizing, I got no idea if I got the new or the older
one. Will the older one work also with a 770x?? Only tested TV-Out and
it works.
Already installed dvd express drivers and the exclamation mark
dissapeared, it seems to be correclty loaded, I dont have a dvd drive
yet, so I cannot test it fully. I am running Win95 OSR2 (most of the
time OS/2 but not for DVD.... yet :-)) and would like to know if there
is some way of using hardware assisted dvd decoding with other dvd
software different from dvd express or softdvd
regards
Alberto
