This is correct, of course, which means you should be very suspicious of
sellers who cannot produce the serial number due to a "missing sticker",
since it is so easy to locate. I just fired up the Thinkpad
configuration utility, and right under Help -> System Information, the
machine type model, system unit serial number and system board serial
number pop right up. No excuses for sellers not to be able to provide a
serial number!
