Just an idea: have you installed the Power Management driver as found at
http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/MIGR-4GXPEG.html ?

My TP600 has no problem with standy under W2K. The keyboard as shown in
Device Manager is labelled "PC/AT Enhanced PS/2 Keyboard (101/102-Key)"
(not "Standard ... or Microsoft ...", if it makes any difference.
