This would be very surprising - in general, in an OS with multiple monitor
support (like W98)
you either need 2 video cards, or one card with two separate circuits on
board (like the Matrox twinhead cards) to
have two independent displays.

This is true for ATI desktop cards too. I think that once a TV is detected,
and the DAC hardware enabled for
output to the set, settings are limited to those that won't damage the DAC
circuitry.

Again, this would mean that two completely independent sets of rendering are
taking place, and so would
need either two video cards or two circuits on the same card.

Yes, but the reason the 770 w/EVA could do that was that it included extra
DVD-only hardware, essentially
the equivalent of a second video card. As someone else has mantioned, you
can probably accomplish this
with a Margi card for your PC card slot (which would be adding back such
extra hardware).
