I don't know if it's the case with the 730, but all the ThinkPads I've had
(701/560/570/600) share the same floppy drive. I would think you only need
a proper cable for the 560.

This could indicate that the floppy drive isn't included in the Startup
sequence in BIOS (press F1 at boot time to check), or that it's included
after the hard drive. Can you operate the floppy drive when in Win95? If
so, it would mean the drive is OK. If not, you may have a hardware
problem.
