  I used to have similar guidelines, until I went shopping for a
Compaq iPaq. The only place I could find a single new one was on
eBay... I didn't pay that much over retail, and I decided that not
gaving to wait months until the online vendors had any in stock was
worth the extra cost.

  In the past, I'd only ever used eBay for parts like Steve said.
Except the bulk of my purchases were old computer parts for my
parents PC. Like VL-Bus video cards, etc... ;-)
