Exactly. If you expect to use your machine on the road a lot, and you need to
have CD-ROM, 2nd battery, etc., the 600 (or T series) is the better choice,
since you get more for lighter (than the ultrabay with the 570). If, however,
you need only the machine for the most part, you may find the 570 meets your
needs very well. It is lighter if you don't carry the ultrabay, and allows
you to do everything you need except the CD or floppy (with infrared, does
anyone use a floppy anymore?!?!).

what are the main differences between the 600 and 570 lines of
thinkpads? the only one that jumps out at me is that the 600 has the
ultrabay for a 2nd hd or floppy or battery or cd-rom, etc., while
these are in the ultrabase in the 570.
