Hello, once again.

Just a short note of (for once) good news.

Finally thought to look around to see if NT4
needs a patch to go beyone 8 gigs.

Apparently either it does, or it may. Not sure
which. At any rate, the one I found on MIcky's
www page doesn't work for EIDE, but it did jolt loose
NT's install program to finally see a 30 gig
drive.

The Disk Administrator technique is quite deficient,
but will at least create a primary partition, and
an extended one, but the means to place logical drives
inside the extended partition are either not user friendly
or not there.

Partition Commander from DOS is there (for me) and did the
trick, although NT subsequently insisted on an AutoCheck of
each drive thusly created.

What a nightmare. Anyone who thinke OS/2 is "hard" to install
is nuts. It is a breeze by comparison.

So, on to better things, such as using NT on a daily basis
to see if it is sufficiently robust (fingers crossed), and
trying to add DSL and then Linux.

Thanks again to all who have tried to help during the various
low points.

Allan Ballard
