Hi!
Just got an A21m to install Linux onto. Well actually most parts worked smoothly
using RedHat 7. Only a view things remain:
- Sometimes the sound driver seems to kill X / Gnome
This behaviour is a bit strange, I've to look why and when
this happens. Till now I found no systematics about.
These two points are more critical:
- It will not wake up properly form Suspend
- Hibernation: How is this done at all?
I tried to compile tpctl but the modules will not load. (Ah well, this machine isn't
listed in the readme of tpctl 1.0; is it just a lack of an update?)
As IBM officially ships that machine with Caldera: where can I get some hints
from Big Blue? Do they have a website about? Any necessary tools? Or is
IBM's Linux-Commitment just the usual: "Ah well we don't actively prevent Linux
from running on our machines if the community adds the necessary drivers"?
Did I everything wrong? Or why don't I get this powermanagment working properly?
This is a really ugly issue which I also experience on a 760XD here. There tpctl
loads but the machine dies immediatly after it wakes up.
Any hints? Would be nice... At least this A21m _must_ run on Linux. (On the
760 can use OS/2 as well.)
BTW: Besides the suspend-issues the setup of Linux is very easy. Absolutely
no problems the whole hardware is detected and everything runs smoothly. I used
RedHat 7 + Helix Gnome.
