The chip and the system are designed to get the most out of the
battery, while protecting your equipment from damage. You now have a
way to know when your battery is failing. There were many problems of
damage due to electronic resistance and chemical leaks. There is no
practical way for a company to benefit otherwise from the chip or the
system.
No battery company I know has found a way to make the batteries in a
different way, better, etc. And there is certainly no market in
rebuilt Li-On batteries.
Anyone who attempts to work around these protections to get a few more
days out of a worn out battery is just putting their computer and/ or
data at risk.
If you want to blame anyone, blame the product liability lawyers and
the gummint safety whizzes.
