Jeff,

They replace what is commonly referred to as the keyboard bezel. Yes it may
happen again. I replaced the bezel twice on a 770 and once on a 770Z. I used
the 770Z daily for probably twice as long as the 770, and my wife is now
using the 770Z on a daily basis. I think that IBM has gradually improved the
paint adhesion such that the problem occurs less frequently, but it still
occurs. I think it's an easy job and should be able to done through EZServe
with a one day turn around. That was generally my experience, although on at
least one occasion I had to fight a bit with the support person to get them
to agree to repair the problem. My machine was always away for no more than
a day or two for this repair, and for that matter all other. Perhaps I have
been lucky.

I wouldn't delay too long as it will only get worse and you will feel a lot
better about your laptop once the repair is done. Besides, you don't want to
risk missing the end of you warranty and then not being able to get the
repair done. At the same time, of course, you have to weigh giving up your
machine for a few days. I have on several occasions had an EZServe box
sitting here for anywhere from a week to a month while I waited for the
right moment to give up my laptop for a repair.

Good luck,
Bill Armstrong
