This is great in theory, but in practice putting the swap file on a separate
partition will actually _decrease_ the system performance. The way to maintain
performance is to either keep the swap file on the same partition as the OS or
put it on a separate _drive_, not really an option on a Thinkpad unless you want
to dedicate your Ultrabay to a 2nd HD adapter.

You'd be better off to put all of your APPs on a separate partition and keep
your OS and swap file contiguous. I've found this to work well on all my late
model Thinkpads (770Z, 600X, 600E):

C: W98 (actually, W98Lite)
D: W2K
E: APPs (Office2K, AutoCAD 14, Photoshop, Acrobat4, etc.)
F: Files and data (makes backups a snap!)
