I suspect it refers to "independent display timing" mode. There is a
checkbox with that label under the NeoMagic Advanced Settings page, which
presumably allows the video hardware to use different timing settings for
the LCD vs. the external display. It's pretty hard to be sure, though, as
the NeoMagic settings page is pretty confusing.

I just noticed there's a new BIOS for the 570/570E.

The feature introduced in this new BIOS version is as follows:

(Fix) In Windows 2000, LCD/CRT is switched with IDT mode by Fn and F7
keys.

Out of curiosity: what is IDT mode?
