Hi Everyone.

I have a 760ED running Windows 98 (not SE) that used to have a 10Base2
card in the ISA expansion slot in the docking station. I've finally got
around to throwing away my old 10Base2 LAN. I have an IBM EtherJet
CardBus Ready Adapter that I was planning to use in the 760 to get it on
my LAN (now 100Mb). Trouble is I can't get it to work.

Here's the configuration after the first install
EtherJet LAN Adapter in the PCMCIA slot of the PC
     (not the docking station)
Cardbus enabled on DMA 9
TI PCI-1130 CB Controller
     IRQ 9 Mem C9000-C9FFF & CA000-CAFFF
EtherJet
     IRQ9 Mem C8000-C8FFF & CC000-CCFFF IO 500-57F

The LAN Adapter manual says to insert the card and choose the NDIS 5
driver from the CD. When I do this the card seems to install OK
(although it doesn't find a DHCP dll from the Windows 98 disk but since
I don't use DHCP I didn't think it would be a problem) When I reboot
the 760, I get a message saying my EtherJet Card is not working properly
and I should use the Network Troubleshooter to resolve the problem. My
limited experience with the Network Troubleshooter says, don't bother.
I went to Device Manager, found the above config with no conflicts but
with the "exclamation mark in the yellow triangle" over the EtherJet
card.

I went back to the manual and followed the procedure it has for dealing
with this. I reinstalled the card but this time the resources were bad.

IRQ=9 Mem 0-F & 0-F IO 0-3. I tried to change the settings but I get
"This resource cannot be modified" so I can't actually change the
resources.

Successive installs change subtlely but none are successful.

Has anyone managed to make this combination of hardware work using any
operating system, preferable Win98 ?

IBM allegedly have a PC forum as well but I can only get browser access
to it (which is a right royal pain in the bottom !). IBM, in their
usual obfuscating manner, just tell you that email and newsgroup access
is possible but don't actually provide any information that might allow
access.

Regards,

   Reg.
