Hello Ray-

I have Starband installed and I have been less than thrilled. I hate not
having a reliable connection- and Starband has been a dog recently. As
with most these Satellite and Two way wireless based systems- they
oversell the service, and now it suffers.

Have you thought of ISDN? The cost these days is pretty reasonable and it
is very stable. I live in a very rural area and it took me a month or so
to get it installed- but it was worth it.

ISDN isn't as good as DSL speed wise, but it's proven and reliable.
Through SouthWestern Bell I get unlimited 128k (2 64k B channels) for
$57.00 a month- not a bad deal for guaranteed 128k and two phone numbers.
Installation was $75. The equipment was cheap too. A 3com HOC 3c892
ethernet hub/ISDN modem set me back $100.00 on ebay.

ISDN should be available in your area. It is a tarifed service in most
areas, so you might be able to demand they install it whether they like it
or not.
