I went through the whole installation again.
Told Maxblast to install 4 partitions.
This time ot worked!!
After partitioning the disk and installing the overlay, I must have started
the Win 98 installation with a Win 98 boot disk and _not_ from drive C:.
The Bios couldn't be corrected by the overlay on the HDD and used the wrong
geometry when installing the OS. The overlay must have been overwritten by
the Win 98 setup.
I wasn't aware of the fact, that when booting the overlay would show up
giving me a chance to boot from disk. Otherwise I would have noticed that it
was missing.
I now have 4 partitions of 5 GB with Win 98 installed on the first.
