DUS in W95 does *not* use the obvious modem answer strings for answering the
phone; I
assume this is true for DUN in W98 as well. (I learned this a few years
ago, while struggling to
find a way to adjust the number of rings for my office machine answer the
phone.) Instead,
the DUN server sets the modem to be on/listening, then 'manually' decides
what to do when the modem
says such things as "RING RING" - in other words, all modem intelligence is
bypassed and control is put
in the hands of Windows. Extremely annoying.
Much of this can be gleaned from modem logs and examining the registry, it
is also all deeply buried in the Modem SDK
documentation at the MS website.
